A Beach Painting

My first beach painting and more to come I hope.

I don’t have a title for the painting, I wasn’t even going to do it but I figured I would try something out of my usual work.  Skies are fun to paint because there is no shapes involved, so it is a bit more abstract.  I was going more a messy gradation for the sky so it was a good experimental piece.  I’m loving it!

Couple

A little cartoon drawing of my husband and me, done at a drawing event in Long Beach called Ink & Draw.   I love to paint as you may already know but I love drawing cartoons as well.  My cartoons are inspired by my life.  So this is me and my husband as cartoon characters.  My husband is always wearing flip flops and his Hoonigan shirt and I have big poofy hair, though I could use some more practice drawing feet.

Painting the beach

New little painting I am working on, I love the blues of the sky and the ocean.  I have lived near the beach and never have done a beach/ ocean scene.  So I figured it was time for one and hopefully more in the future.  I love painting things like skies and water because it is more about strokes than working on shapes.  It requires focus on tone and a build up of strokes to get the movement of the water.

I am loving this already.

P.S. the figure in the painting is my husband.
